If eFootball cannot connect to an opponent after 6.1.0, check current notices, restart the game, and compare one other PvP mode before changing settings. A residence reset is not a verified matchmaking fix. Player reports describe failures after the update, but the official information checked for this guide does not confirm a general server outage or a universal solution.
The useful question is not simply “Are the servers bad?” It is whether your failure follows one event, one network, or every online match. Keep the exact message and the time it appeared; that evidence makes the next check more useful.
What players reported between October 8 and 11
In the Matchmaking failure discussion, visible during our October 11 check as a day-old post, the author reports repeated failures since Thursday, October 8, after waiting a minute or two. Its screenshot uses “Failed to Connect with Opponent”. A commenter reports failures in the POTW tournament while other modes work.
A separate October 11 event discussion includes complaints about lag and a comment saying matchmaking fails in both the event and divisions. These are individual accounts of different symptoms. They establish neither the technical cause nor the number of affected players.
The event discussion contains a PS5 report of matches ending prematurely; a POTW thread has a Steam player describing slow, delayed play. These are platform-specific anecdotes about in-match symptoms, not confirmation of the same pre-match error. The reviewed reports do not establish a mobile-specific cause or a fault shared by all consoles. Record connection failure, slow search, lag and disconnection separately.
Searches often use “Failed to Connect to Opponent,” “Unable to Connect to Opponent” or “cannot find opponent.” The screenshot wording verified here is “with Opponent”; do not assume those searches represent one identical error code on every platform.
Has KONAMI acknowledged a general outage?
No general outage confirmation was found in the official pages and notices checked for this guide on October 11, 2026. That is a limit of the verification, not a live promise that every server is healthy. Check KONAMI’s current notices and the in-game notices again before troubleshooting; maintenance or a new incident notice can change the next step.
The October 9 Club Event announcement concerns residence-based participation. It does not establish the cause of ordinary League or other PvP connection errors.
Is it your network, one mode or a wider issue?
| What you observe | What to test next | What it can tell you |
|---|---|---|
| One event fails; League works | Retry the event later and record both results. | A mode-specific pattern is more useful than assuming all PvP is down. |
| Several modes fail on home Wi-Fi | Try a second trusted network if available. | A change in outcome points toward the network path; it does not identify a broken router component. |
| Event is missing entirely | Check dates, platform and eligibility. | This is different from a found opponent failing to connect. |
| Match starts, then becomes unstable | Record the mode, antenna and post-match graph where available. | In-match evidence should accompany the report rather than only a matchmaking screenshot. |
| Multiple modes fail on two networks | Check notices and send a structured report. | A wider issue becomes plausible; the comparison still does not prove an outage. |
Safe troubleshooting steps, in a useful order
- Check notices and event timing. If maintenance is active, follow the notice rather than resetting your account.
- Fully close and reopen the game. Confirm that the official store has no pending game update. Restart the device if the failure persists.
- Run one comparison match. Try another available PvP mode and write down whether it fails before matching, before kickoff or during play. Do not repeatedly abandon matches to test.
- Reduce competing traffic. Pause large downloads and close unnecessary background apps. On mobile, stay near the Wi-Fi access point; on console or PC, use a normal wired connection if available.
- Compare a second trusted connection. On mobile, a short test with your own mobile data can help if your allowance permits it. On PC or console, use an available trusted alternative without buying hardware just for this test.
- Retry later and record the outcome. If other modes work, stop making unrelated account changes and retain the mode-specific evidence.
- Report a persistent failure. Include what you tested so support can distinguish symptoms.
These are diagnostic suggestions, not guaranteed repairs. Do not delete game data or reinstall as the first response; an unnecessary reinstall adds account-recovery risk without demonstrating the cause. Do not randomly change DNS, open ports, disable security software or choose VPN countries.
P2P versus game servers: why the mode matters
KONAMI’s official PvP reference assigns Quick Match, 1v1 Friend Match rooms and penalty-shootout Challenge Events to direct peer-to-peer connections. League, ordinary Challenge Events, Ranking and Themed Events, Co-op Friend Match rooms and Strike Arena use client-server connections.
In P2P, the two players’ connection quality matters directly. In server modes, each player connects to the game server. Comparing two modes can therefore compare different connection methods; success in one does not prove the entire network is fault-free.
The in-match antenna and post-match graph help evaluate your connection in server modes, once a match starts. They cannot diagnose an error that prevents kickoff. A good connection indication is also not a guarantee that the next matchmaking attempt will succeed.
Will changing country fix ordinary matchmaking?
The verified residence announcements concern eSports entry. They do not establish that resetting residence repairs normal matchmaking. Registered residence, accessing location and an automatically selected game server are different concepts.
If the tournament is missing, read the country and 180-day reset guide and the Championship eligibility checklist. If it is visible but a connection fails, record the failure instead of assuming a country change is the remedy.
How to report the problem to KONAMI
On console or PC, use the official inquiry form. KONAMI states that this web form does not answer mobile inquiries; on Android or iPhone, contact support from the game app. The web form asks for the incident time in UTC, so convert your recorded local time when completing that field. A useful report looks like this:
Platform and version: [device/OS, game version]
Mode: [exact event or League]
Time: [date, time and timezone]
Failure stage: [search / opponent found / kickoff / during match]
Message: [exact text/code, screenshot]
Comparison: [other mode and second network results]
Already tried: [restart, pending-update check, reduced background traffic]
Send account identifiers only through official support when requested. Never include passwords, verification codes or payment information in a public Reddit post. A report documents the problem; it does not guarantee a fix or response time.
Connection-error FAQ
Did update 6.1.0 definitely cause it?
The timing in player reports is consistent with a post-update complaint, but timing alone does not prove the cause. Preserve the dates and comparison results.
Is there one fix for all devices?
No universal fix was verified. Begin with notices, mode comparisons and low-risk network checks.
Can I choose a matchmaking server through residence?
The checked documentation describes automatic game-server selection, not a manual server picker in the residence settings.
Do lag reports prove matchmaking is down?
No. A match that starts but lags has a different observable failure from a match that never connects.
